Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, who is with the backing of President Trump, has cleared its first hurdle in the pursuit of a second term, defeating three opponents to win the Republican nomination.

The Governor of the strong showing on Tuesday gives him a boost heading into the fall campaign, in a state that tends to be predominantly in the direction of the GOP.
