Cuomo shocked Fans on Wednesday when he made the remarks as he criticized Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
“We have not reached the size he added, we achieve greatness, if every American is engaged, we reach true to size, if the discrimination and prejudice against women, 51 percent of our population is gone,”.
His office later, Cuomo said, “believes that America is great, and the full size is fully realized when every man, woman and child has the full equality.”
“America has added not yet reached its maximum potential,” his office.
But the statement, do not stop Cuomo is mocked and criticized by both sides of the political spectrum for his comments. Actress and activist Cynthia Nixon, which is suggested to be a challenge Cuomo in the democratic gubernatorial primary, it’s a part of its efforts to fend off their left wing challenge.
“I think this is just another example of Andrew Cuomo, to find out what a progressive sounds like and missing by a mile,” the activist and “Sex and the City” actress NY1 said on Wednesday.
The left-wing mayor Bill de Blasio said that he assumed that the Governor misspoke, and that America has the size, never out of the question for me.” His own testimony, came with a hefty dose of qualifiers.
“America is great. America was great. We have to do a lot of work to do in America to make it a more fair and equitable country,” de Blasio said, according to The New York Daily News.
“But that doesn’t take away our size. The concept of America is great and a lot of our history is, and there are some parts of our history, we need to be open, how far we were from our ideals,” he continued. “But the size has never been out of the question for me.”
Cuomo also hit from the right side was a longshot Republican Challenger Marc Molinaro said he was “ashamed and apologize to shocked” at the remarks and call to Cuomo.
“Even with our imperfections, this country, his promise, his purpose, his principles and his people always have and always determined. March things better, that is what America great has made,” he said on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday. “I am ashamed to think that my Governor doesn’t know.”
Trump, who has feuded for years with Cuomo, in the year 2020 presidential candidate jumped on the rumor earlier this week and accused him of “total meltdown.”
“Can you believe this is the Governor of the Highest state Taxed in the United States, Andrew Cuomo, with a total nuclear meltdown!” he tweeted.
