Trump announces Kelly Knight craft as a candidate for Ambassador to the UN

President Trump on Friday announced Kelly Knight crafts, Ambassador to Canada, as his candidate to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

“Kelly has done an excellent job representing our Nation, and I have no doubt that under your leadership that will represent our country at the highest level,” Trump tweeted. “Congratulations to Kelly and her entire family!”

If confirmed for the role, craft will be successful, Nikki Haley, announced abruptly its resignation in October of last year.

Haley craft offered their congratulations on Twitter after the announcement. “You did a great job for us, as @USAmbCanada and we know you’ll be tweeted a strong voice for America at the United Nations,” Haley.

The President’s decision comes about a week after the State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert pulled her name from consideration for the U. N. ambassadorship.

“I am grateful that President Trump and Secretary [Mike] Pompeo for the trust you placed in me, for considering me for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Nauert said in the statement, released by the U.S. state Department on Saturday. “But for the last two months were a killer for my family, and therefore, it is in the best interest of my family that I retire my name from consideration.”

A state Department source said to Fox News at the time that the confirmation process — on top travel around the world and between Washington and New York to see family, grew to much for Nauert.

Craft was sworn in as Ambassador to Canada in September 2017, following his appointment to the position of Trump, according to her biography on the Embassy’s website.

“Ambassador Kelly Craft is a leader, entrepreneur and philanthropist, of service to the community and the improvement of education, the Foundation stone of your career,” her biography said.

The website lists several items, craft has been held, in Kentucky, including leadership positions with the salvation army of Lexington. She has also served on the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees, and began a marketing and business consulting firm, it said.

“In 2007, President George W. Bush to be Ambassador to the craft to be appointed as a Deputy for the General Assembly of the United Nations,” according to her biography.

Pompeo issued a statement saying he was “very glad that President trump has announced his intention to nominate Ambassador Kelly craft our next US Ambassador to the United Nations.

“The Ambassador of the craft, was an outstanding advocate for America’s national security and economic interests in Canada, and she is very well qualified to do the same, at the United Nations,” he continued. “I look forward to your confirmation and continue with her work at the United Nations.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., “appreciated the President for the nomination, identification and crafts” – an excellent choice for this critical post.”

“Kelly craft is a strong advocate for American interests and a powerful representative of our great nation to the U. N. read,” with his statement. “She has a long record of the state and the nation, and I am confident that they will serve to continue with the award as the voice of America, to the world at the United Nations. I was proud to recommend you this remarkable Kentuckian, President of Trump’s notice.”

McConnell’s statement noted that the craft “is a native of Glasgow, Kentucky.”
