Pompeo says Kerry is actively undermining U.S. policy on Iran

Secretary of state Mike Pompeo, says his predecessor, John Kerry is waiting for the advice of European and Iranian diplomats to save the Trump administration, the Iran nuclear deal; Rich Edson reports from the State Department.

President Trump and John Kerry suggesting in a war of words on Twitter Friday, the President, the former Secretary of state had “illegal meetings” with the Iranian regime, and Kerry suggesting that the commander-in-chief should study more to worry about Russia.

“John Kerry had illegal meetings with the very aggressive Iranian Regime, can only serve, to offer our great work to the detriment of the American people. He told them, to wait the Trump Administration! He was registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act? BAD!” Trump tweeted on Thursday evening.

The President of the tweet came amid Republican criticism of Kerry’s “shadow diplomacy” with Iran. Kerry acknowledged that several meetings with Iranian officials behind the back of the Trump government officials. Some of the meetings were in relation to the scrapped Iranian Nuclear Deal.

The tweet appeared to be a sarcastic reference to former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman the practice of recording conversations in the White house.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) is a disclosure statement requires that a person make as an agent of a foreign principal in a political or quasi-political capacity to, the public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal.

Kerry’s not hurt, FARA, but some have suggested that they could prohibit a violation of the Logan Act, individuals negotiations on behalf of the U.S. government, without a permit, although no one has ever successfully prosecuted under the law.

A spokesman for Kerry also defended the former Secretary of state of the actions.

“Let’s cut through the distractions and talk about real facts, not alternative facts. Secretary Kerry remains in contact with his former colleagues around the world as well as all of the previous Secretary of state, and in a long phone conversation with Secretary Pompeo earlier this year, he went into detail about what he had learned about the Iranian view,” the Kerry spokesman said in a statement to Fox News. “No secrets were kept from this administration. As America’s closest ally, Kerry believes it is important that the commitments remain in Iran is under the nuclear agreement, to renegotiate the conquered the world years ago, to be effective. He advocated for what was, in line with US policy at the time.”

The spokesman added: “There is nothing unusual, let alone improper or inappropriate about former diplomats meeting with foreign colleagues. Secretary Kissinger has done it for decades, with Russia and China. What is unseemly, and unprecedented, is to be used for the podium of the state Department, for political theatrics.”

Kerry, the former Massachusetts senator, who has worked as the nation’s top diplomat, the Obama administration, from the comments about his interactions with Iran, as he promotes his new book “Every day Is Extra.”

During an appearance on Hugh’s Hewitt ‘ radio show Wednesday, Kerry confirms meeting with Iranian foreign Minister Javad Zarif “three or four times” since leaving office, to admit, to discuss the scrapped nuclear deal, among other issues.

“What I’ve tried to elicit from him what Iran might do to be ready to change the dynamics in the Middle East for the better,” Kerry said.

Later Wednesday during an appearance on Fox News’ “The Daily Briefing,” Kerry does not deny the proposal, he said, to wait for the Iranians “to” Trump up to the next Democratic President.

“I think everyone in the world waiting President Trump,” Kerry speaks said.

Kerry ran for President, unsuccessfully, in 2004, and has not ruled out 2020 bid.

Reports that Kerry met Zarif appeared first in may. The Boston Globe called the meeting an “aggressive, but Stealth” mission, in order to keep pressure on the Trump administration, the Obama-era nuclear deal in any form.

Trump, if, after the scrap, the business, declared that the Pact failed to curb the country’s nuclear ambitions. The Treasury Department last month restored sanctions against Iran.

Trump blasted Kerry for his “potentially illegal shadow diplomacy”, earlier this year.

Kerry, though, denied his sessions were suitable.

“Every Secretary of state, the former Secretary of state continues to meet with foreign heads of state and government, going to security conferences around the world,” Kerry said in The “Daily Briefing.” “We all do. And we all have to understand conversations [about] the state of things with the world around you.”
