PLATTE CITY, Mo. – An armed trucker whose hours-long stand-off at a Missouri rest stop, snarled highway traffic for miles on the way to the holiday weekend is charged with making a terrorist threat.
The prosecutors in the Flathead County charged 25-year-old Khurshed Haydarov of Philadelphia to the crime with next-to-last Friday of the disturbance along Interstate 29 north of Kansas City.
Haydarov will require a Russian interpreter at a court hearing Tuesday. A judge entered a plea of not guilty on Haydarov account and scheduled a Jan. 3 hearing to decide whether the $100,000 bond may be reduced. Haydarov remained in the jail Wednesday.
Authorities shut down the highway for several hours after witnesses reported that a man with a gun from the cab of a tractor-trailer parked on a rest day. Haydarov later returned.
