Trimbos is an approach at-risk children through municipalities is insufficient
By failing to care, it often happens that psychological problems or addiction from parent to child. It reports the Trimbos institute after research.
Children of parents with mental health and addiction issues, according to the institute often left to their fate, while they have a great chance to have the same problems as their parents to develop, writes Trouw.
If the special guidelines to help them be complied with, increases the chance that children themselves disorders develop with 40 percent. But these checks are in accordance with the research but a little.
“It’s going to be very many children, with the risk that they have a disorder or addiction develop reduced can be,” says Rianne van der Zanden, project manager of the research against the newspaper. “That happens now really inadequate and that is sin.”
Especially the municipality must more action, the Trimbos. “They buy little concern for this group and there have practitioners affected. They have so little time that they focus on what has the priority: only the parent with his or her problems,” says van der Zanden.
To achieve that, it is the observance of the guidelines is not enough, says the Leiden and lector Jaap van der Stel, who specialized in this topic. He called Faith a “cultural change” to a mental health care which is prevention, rather than only intervening if someone is to make calls.
