Trial opens for man accused of abusing a girl he got as a gift

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The mother of six girls Pennsylvania is accused of abuse, fathered two children, says she knew about the sexual activity, but thought that it was “a good thing.”

Fifty-two-year-old Donald Lee Kaplan is on trial in Bucks County on rape and sexual-assault charges.

The authorities claim that the Feasterville resident was “gifted” the oldest girl because he helped her parents financially. The plaintiffs claim that he “brainwashed” the family in search of “power, manipulation and control.”

Kaplan’s lawyer says that he was married to the oldest daughter in the family, and eyes of the other children loved him.

The oldest girl is now 19. She gave birth to the first child in 2013.

The mother says that she has no regrets because she “had a good life.” The girls’ parents were convicted of child endangering and are awaiting sentencing.
