Treatment Frenchman in a vegetative state discontinued after legal battle

The doctors of the 42-year-old Frenchman Vincent Lambert have Monday his treatment discontinued, reports news agency AFP. Lambert is since a motorbike accident in 2008 in a vegetative state.

Lamberts parents have the cessation of the treatment of their son always fought. So, they boarded a number of years ago to the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The court ruled then that the treatment is discontinued should be. This was the judgment of the highest French courts followed.

The wife of Lambert and some of the brothers agreed on the verdict. The case led in recent years to create divisions. People who have Lambert in life wanted to keep have several times protested.

Earlier this month, would the hoofdbehandelaar of Lambert and his family have notified that they will be in the week of may 20 would stop the treatment.
