‘Toyota is approaching a breakthrough in production of batteries for electric cars’
Toyota thinks in a few years, a new kind of battery to be able to produce that electric cars may be a lot more efficient.
The company wants the new batteries in the beginning of the next decade in the cars process, reports the Wall Street Journal. The Japanese newspaper Chunichi Shimbun speaks of 2022 as possible lanceringsjaar.
The batteries work with fixed instead of liquid chemical substances. Which need more energy to hold in a smaller battery, so the range of electric cars is higher. Also, the service life can be improved and the charging time shorter.
Toyota hasn’t said what cars of the new batteries will be provided. It is also unclear whether there is a cost difference with the current generation of lithium-ion batteries.
