Tornado hit Texas, flooding a threat as the storms move east

ATLANTA – Authorities say a tornado touched down in Texas, damage to homes, but caused no injuries on Wednesday, and that severe weather continues Thursday, with a threat of dangerous winds, thunderstorms and flooding as the storms move to the east.

The National Weather Service forecasters say they cannot rule out a brief tornado or two in Louisiana, or east of the Mississippi river on Thursday.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office says a tornado hit a subdivision east of Huntsville, Texas, on Wednesday, reportedly damaging several homes, downing trees and power lines and leaving heavy objects in the environment.

Flash flooding is a concern as heavy rainfall is forecast in Mississippi, much of the northwest of the Natchez Trace corridor, where a flash flood watch was in effect until 1 pm Thursday.
