The San Diego pop culture convention, kicks off for the 50th time.
The “Top Gun” star Tom Skerritt about his experience on the film, as well as whether or not fans can expect his character to return in the upcoming sequel.
Skerritt, who appeared in such films as ” Alien,” M*A*S*H” and “Steel Magnolias,” sat down for an interview with Australia’s “The Morning Show”, where he talked about his experience on working with Tom Cruise, and he had no way of knowing at the time that the film would be a lasting hit, it remains today.

“I knew it would be a great success. I have had previous experience with in-house movies, to go back to the “M*A*S*H,” and above all, I had a pretty good idea what Tony Scott could do, as a manager,” he said. “And Tom [Cruise] was a perfect place to stay, so I had every reason to think that this was going to be a classic.”
Cruise recently surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con by revealing that the first trailer for ‘ Top Gun: Maverick,” you will have to talk with the character several years after the events of the first film. If it is or not, Skerritt is a tough-but-fair, flight instructor Mike “Viper” Metcalf will be making an appearance, the actor remained tight-lipped.
“”I can’t tell you anything about it, but there’s a trailer out, that it’s going to be bringing in a lot of tickets,” the actor told the hosts. “It’s almost like a virtual reality experience of watching the trailer. They don’t talk much about it. If Tom Cruise likes to say, ” If I tell you, I’ll kill you!'”

In the new trailer, it’s clear that Cruise’s iconic character, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, will serve as a new flight instructor of the Top Gun school, and has been seen wearing the famous Ray-Ban sunglasses, as he faces off against a new enemy, drones.
The film will also feature the original’s star, Val Kilmer, who will reprise his role of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, you are now a fighter in the school.

Apart from the Cruise, and Kilmer, and the “Top Gun” sequel will star newcomer Miles Teller, who is set to play the now adult son of the “All” in the original film, as well as Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, and Manny Jacinto.
