Jazz musician and composer Toots Thielemans has died this morning. The harmonica player was 94 years old.
Jazz musician Toots Thielemans is Monday at age 94 died. That reports to his manager, Veerle Van de Poel. Toots Thielemans died in the hospital, where he was treated after a fall last month.
“Toots Tielemans lag since last month in the hospital after he fall had come, but it is not that complications were occurred. He died because of old age, his body was just on. His family watched at his bedside.” This is reported by the manager. Maybe later in the day, a book opened in his hometown la hulpe.
“One of the greatest that jazz has ever produced’
Thielemans was born in 1922 in the Marolles, the Brussels working-class neighbourhood, where he is on his third accordion and learned to play and later also guitar and harmonica. Thielemans immigrated to the US in 1952 where he was in the bands played for jazz greats Charlie Parker and George Shearing. Click here to read his biography.
During his career, he played along and he took the plates with other jazzlegendes as Bill Evans, Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie and Ella Fitzgerald. He was also on all the great stages in the world. Bop, pop and stand-up, Toots did it all. A selection, of Montreux, New Orleans and Jazz Middelheim.
The death of the jazz legend has a flow of reactions brought about. “With the death of Toots Thielemans, we see one of the most authentic Brussels star left us.
