Tonio by Paula van der Oest Dutch entry for the Oscars
The boekverfilming Tonio by Paula van der Oest, subsequently, on behalf of the Netherlands for an Oscar for Best Foreign film.
That makes the film institute Eye Tuesday known.
The drama was chosen from eleven Dutch films. The film is based on the eponymous book by A. F. Th. van der Heijden about the death of his son, Tonio.
In Tonio play Pierre Bokma and Rifka Lodeizen the parents of Tonio, a role of Chris Peters. He is at the age of 21 scooped by a car, where he comes to life. The film is out on the 22nd of september in the Netherlands.

It is the third time for Paula van der Oest that a film of her the Dutch oscar nomination. In 2014 was Lucia de B. submitted. The film was ultimately not nominated. Her drama Zus&Zo was in 2002, is nominated.
Afraid that the possible lack of a nomination to impair the film is Van der Oest. “No, no, I think it’s just fun. I am very straightforward in these things,” says the filmmaker against NU.nl.
Van der Oest says further no idea whether the film will actually be nominated. “Zus&Zo, it was a total surprise. Lucia de B. was something more of a genre film and in an international way. I could me the nomination, therefore, well imagine. But Tonio is a very small, intense, uncompromising movie. I do find that they have this but in the shortlist should include,” says Van der Oest, laughing.
Van der Oest wanted to be with Tonio ‘a good film’, and thought prior to making the movie, not the odds on an Oscar.
“If you have a book verfilmt, the question is always: what’s in it for such a book with it on? I want that people will say: ‘We understand that this story is a movie.'”
On 24 January 2017, makes the Academy the nominations are known. The 89th Oscars are awarded on February 26, 2017.
