Toddler accidentally hangs himself in Minnesota store

MANKATO, Minn. – Police say a 4-year-old boy accidentally hanged himself while alone in the dressing room of a Minnesota thrift store.

Authorities say the incident happened Saturday in the afternoon Again Thrift And More in Mankato, which is managed by the Minnesota Valley Action Council.

Family members started an online fundraising effort to cover the funeral costs for the boy, that if Ryu Pena.

Police Cmdr. Daniel Schisel said the boy apparently got the hooded sweatshirt he was caught wearing a pendant attached to a wall. The emergency services took the boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Schisel tells the Minneapolis Star Tribune family members, who live in the nearby St. James, were in the store at the time. He calls the death “a tragic accident” and says that no charges will be pursued.
