‘Today’ Al-Smoker to become a member of Sara Bareilles’ musical ‘Waitress’

“Today” show host Al Smoker to join the cast of the musical “Waitress.”


A long-time ‘Today’ show weatherman, Al-Smoker, with his act on stage.

On Wednesday, the NBC morning show announced that the Smoker will take on a new gig and the hit Broadway stage in the Sara Bareilles-written musical, ” Waitress.”

The weatherman is the building to the cast of the Broadway show for six weeks, starting on 5 October. But it was not known what the role of the Smoker will take his “Today” colleagues have shown that in addition to making his Broadway acting debut as the morning show host will also sing.

“People will pay real money to watch!” he joked with his co-hosts on Wednesday morning. “As a singer, I am a great weatherman.”

Smoker joins the list of stars who have also appeared in the Bareilles musical, which is based on the 2007 indie film of the same name, starring manages to sneak up on Russell.

After actors, starring in the musical itself, Bareilles has thrown other celebrities, such as Katharine McPhee and Jason Mraz in the hit show. The musical currently stars actress Nicolette Robinson.
