Employees of Federal agencies an early Christmas gift this year from President Trump had been offered if he signed an executive order that relieves the employees of their duties on Christmas eve.

The decree on Tuesday on the White House website explains that each executive Department and agencies to be closed to within the government, “and their employees excused from duty on Monday.”

But the job has authority to give persons in the departments and agencies have some employees stay on the clock in Dec. 24.

“The heads of Executive departments and agencies may determine that certain offices and installations of their organizations, or parts thereof, must remain open and that certain employees must report to that specified for the task on December 24, 2018, for reasons of national security, defence, public or other necessity,” the executive order.

The Director of the Office of Personnel Management has authorized the implementation of the mandate, the White house said.
