WASHINGTON (AP) — The trump administration is the extension of humanitarian protection for Haitian immigrants living in the United States until at least January.
The Temporary Protected Status for 50,000 Haitians was set to expire in July. A U.S. government official says the agreed trump administration, to expand it by at least six months.
The status protects Haitians from deportation. It was implemented after the 2010 earthquake, parts of Haiti devastated.
The official was informed about the decision, but not authorized publication of details in advance of an announcement.
Haitian-Americans, lawmakers, and the Haitian government urged to leave the trump administration, which are protected. You don’t say the country is ready to take back the immigrants have lived abroad.
