Even your memories are vulnerable to hackers.
Timehop, the service for social media posts from days and years gone by, was the victim of a data breach on July 4, the company said.
About 21 million users were affected.
Hackers gained access to Timehop the servers by compromising an “access credential” the cloud computing environment which is not protected by multifactor authentication, the company said.
Timehop, the engineers locked the attackers in the two hours after the violation is discovered but not before the thieves access to names, e-mails and phone numbers of Timehop users.
Private messages, and financial data were not affected, the company said in the announcement of the breach late on Sunday.
“We have learned of the violation, while it is still in progress, and were able to interrupt, but data is taken,” Timehop said in a blog post on her website. It is working on “our users and partners to provide all relevant information as soon as possible.”
