WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Senator Marco Rubio on Wednesday said a U.S. national security panel, in order to assess the TikTok’s owner, Beijing ByteDance Technology Co. takeover of the show.m, saying the TikTok is being used by the Chinese government to censor politically sensitive content.

In a letter to the Minister of finance, Steven Mnuchin, Rubio said the Chinese-owned apps “are increasingly being used to censor content and silence the open discussion of topics that are deemed sensitive by the Chinese Government and the Communist y.”

Rubio said that there is growing evidence that the TikTok in the United States, and the censoring of content that is in line with the Chinese government.
An AMERICAN TikTok spokeswoman said that the company stores all of its U.S. data from the user, as in the United States of america.
“The Chinese government did not ask for that TikTok content to be censored, and it does not have jurisdiction, it would have to be independent, as TikTok doesn’t work out there,” she added.
ByteDance, is one of China’s fastest-growing start-ups. The owner of the land, the leading news aggregator, Jinri Toutiao, as well as the TikTok, which has attracted celebrities such as Ariana Grande and Katy Perry, along with the legions of AMERICAN teens.
The company is Chinese owned, and the sudden surge in popularity, have taken their concerns to U.S. regulators.
Congress does not enforce exhorting cfius to review individual cases, however, the powerful committee has the authority to review most of the deals that have not been previously marked, in order to be exhorting cfius by the parties involved.
Rubio said that in China, “with the help of these apps, in order to make their foreign policy and global suppression of freedom of speech, expression, and other freedoms and rights that we, as Americans, are so deeply cherish.”
A Chinese gaming company Beijing Kunlun Tech Co., Ltd. (300418.SZ) earlier this year agreed to a request by exhorting cfius to sell the popular gay dating app Grindr, which they have owned since 2016.
Kunlun went to the AMERICAN public, after the Beijing-based engineers will have access to the personal information of millions of Americans, including private messages, as well as the HIV-positive status.
ByteDance bought the Show.m for for nearly $1 billion in December 2017. Later, the hatches for the show.ly, and moving the users to a new version of its very own TikTok app, which is required for the non-Chinese markets.
Friends.ly, to be released in 2014, and the TikTok, which launched in 2016, for users to create and share a short song and dance video’s that will be set up on well-known songs, with a wide range of special effect filters.
The company’s original app, Douyin is similar to that of the TikTok, but it is only available in China and will be in accordance with local censorship requirements.
ByteDance has a venture firm Sequoia Capital and the big private-equity firms, including KKR, General Atlantic and Hillhouse Capital Group and investors, sources told Reuters.
