The editors of Sports/Voetbalmagazine prefer her sportmomenten of the year. Steve Van Herpe chose the controversy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo.

As I look back on the voetbaljaar 2018, I think immediately of two excellent goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo. The first is still in the shirt of Real Madrid in the quarter finals of the Champions League against Juventus: a masterly executed bicycle kick which Gianluigi Buffon with open mouth, stood watching. The second goal, in a CL-match of Juventus against Manchester United, was just as unbelievable: an in depth sprintende CR7 that behind him sent a long ball right on the shoe, and in the roof of the goal throw. On Twitter were the gifs of baffled faces not count.

As soccer is, of course, greatly enjoy it when sports art, but you can still be ecstatic if you know that the artist is a rapist? Everyone is innocent until the contrary is proved, that is so. The burden of proof against the Portuguese superhero is huge and the story of Kathryn Mayorga is so detailed that it is almost not made up can. In addition, the German weekly Der Spiegel recently come up with more incriminating documents, only: meanwhile, crows-there is almost no cock anymore.

The fluidity with which everything the revue will pass, take horrific forms. What today dominates the news, tomorrow is no topic more. There was, however, extremely a lot of fuss when the case came to light at the end of september. Nike, that a monstercontract with Ronaldo, let us know ‘seriously concerned’, but we are now three months further and you can always smooth CR7-products in the Nikeshop order. The world keeps turning, the rat race goes by, people forget.

But we can cheer for a scoring rapist? We have the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to disconnect the person? Can we have a poster in the room of our seven-year-old son to hang? These are questions that I can’t immediately answer you, but I want to stay.

Because forget that, I can’t. Just as Kathryn Mayorga.
