Police in Everett, Washington, say would-be ATM thieves thwarted their own intrusion attempt by setting the money on fire.
Police and firefighters were called Tuesday morning to the Coast Community Bank on 19 Ave SE for the report of a fire. When they arrived, crews found the drive-in-ATM was set on fire.

Aaron Snell with the Everett Police Department said the suspects used a burner to try and access the ATM cash box. In the process of doing so, they accidentally the money on the fire.
John Dickson, Chief Operations Officers of the Coast Community Bank, said that the suspects were not able to come away with the money. He told Q13 News that masked men tried to break into the bank money safe just a few weeks ago.
Dickson bank said that the bank providing images of the incident to the Everett police.
