“Ploegsteert” of The Sixth Metal was this year voted the best Belgian album. “Ploegsteert” was in 2012 for the first time in the Top 100 and since then it ends each year, some higher. Last year, it was still at 11 and now it jumps straight to the first place.

Surprise: ‘Mia’ van Gorky tops the list is no longer, but knocked out in the third place. Luc De Vos loses against ‘Ne me quitte pas” of Jacques Brel, with only 1 vote more on the second-place finisher.

Other newcomers are ‘Amsterdam’ by Kris De Bruyne (last year 14) and ‘The ‘ Tomorrow’ of Zjef Van Uytsel (last year 27).

‘Formidable’ by Stromae, ‘When she smiles’ from Yevgueni and ‘Rozane’ of Wim The Government and are no longer in the Top 10.

11 songs are new in the Top 100. 16 other songs to make their re-occurrence. The highest new is “I know my love” by Zjef Vanuytsel, on 17. The altitude of re-entry is “Bluesette” from Toots Thielemans, on 37. Perhaps the death of both artists contributed to this success.

In comparison with the previous edition are 27 songs not in the list . Radio 1 called the listeners explicitly to make their choice not only on the usual suspects to vote. This resulted in a diverse overview of the rich Belgian history of music.

Jacques Brel is with 6 listings in the most popular artist in the top 100. The oldest song is “Lights of the Scheldt” felt vulnerable”, from 1952. It stands at number 96. The most recent are “Gold” Bazart (30) and the “Horizon” of Tourist LeMC with Wally (46). The most spectacular tumbling makes “Princes” by Oscar and the Wolf. Last year at 40, now in the shadow on 346.
