Theo Maassen plays in the film, The Fans, for the first time a gay character. In a conversation with NU.nl the actor says that it is a zoenscène with a man in front of him for more than a zoenscène with a woman.
“In real life, I prefer women, but in the movies, I have to be in the moment. I am a bi-sexual actor, and for a heterosexual man to be in the day to day life,” says Maassen.
“A zoenscène with a guy, I don’t see a higher level of difficulty. I feel that there is no reluctance at all, it is a vrijscène is always a little bit awkward. It’s nice to make it as believable as possible, to shape it, but it is just as good for the fight scenes.”
Maassen plays the role of Jonathan, a character who is out of state. “He was introverted, depressed, gay, and an intellectual. I am nothing of the kind.” The actor said that the reason why this is an interesting role to take on.
For the Enthusiasts, directed by Anna van der Heide, tells the story of a family who discovered that the pater familias of the disease in question. In addition to Maassen, are, among others, Jeroen Krabbé, Beppie Melissen, Hadewych Minis, and Majd Mardo, who was the partner of the Maassens character plays in the film.
The film will appear on the 24th of October.
