Favorite Belgian meal

Hodge-podge with mustard when the outside is very cold.

What is your favourite Belgian city? Why? And what is your favorite Belgian shoppingsstad?

I live and work in the beautiful city of Ghent. I am still regularly amazed at how beautiful and fun it can be there. In terms of shopping I will come to Ghent not all the way on my draw, since the focus is mainly on large chains.

What do you miss when you travel?

Not much really. As long as I know I have my friends and family can see, I can for a longer period of home leave. Sometimes I have exactly that need, and get away from it all and in a different environment away from home stay.

What is your favorite piece of a Belgian brand in your wardrobe?

Heels by Dries van Noten.

What is that, a Belgian brand?

A Belgian trademark is a trademark where most of the products in Belgium designed and manufactured.

Since when is your brand? Where is your headquarters?

These are the first few weeks of my brand, everything is so new and is just on its feet.

Who is in your team (freelance and employed)?

Provisionally I’ll do anything only with the help of my mother and friends where necessary.

What is your favorite piece from your own collection?

Walter (I’m aware all of my pieces a ‘Belgian’ name) is my favorite piece. It is the mint green striped wool sweater with orange and navy blue collar. The colours contrast and appear with each other to swear but that just makes it all nicely together.

You have the feeling that a ‘Designed in Belgium’ label scores very well at home and abroad? Why?

Sure, I notice that quite a few of my friends have an interest to start to attach how and where something is produced. In countries such as Japan, they are for example very fond of European brands.

What are the stumbling blocks today to make a fashion or design label to run?

For me the big stumbling block that I with durable materials to work with and completely in Belgium wants to produce, so I the process from A to Z can follow. At the same time, I want an affordable product on the market. The consumer understands is often not what a fair price is for a quality, honest product. In my area I notice but a change in mindset and an interest in high quality, sustainable products.

There Is a Belgian designer that you look up to?

How to Katrien Van Hecke her clothing manufactures, which is something I look up to. They used natural materials that they subsequently own paints with natural pigments.

Any Belgian/Belgian would you like to dress?

I think that the style of my collection is close to the style of the Belgian singer-songwriter Paul van Haver (Stromae). He also mixes in his collections (Mosaert) contrasting colors and playful patterns. See him appear in a sweater from my collection would be a great honor.

Where are your items sold?

Since september 8, when Juttu.
