The visual work of poet Leo Vroman to the museum
The Literatuurmuseum in The Hague has hundreds of drawings and sketches from the hand of the poet Leo Vroman received. The Vroman Foundation contributed to the visual work of the artist to the museum, that his literary archive managed. Vroman died exactly three years ago.
The Literatuurmuseum is concerned with online attention to Vroman spend, but will hold a small exhibition of Vromans fine work.
Vroman was a Dutch-American poet, (stage)writer, cartoonist, painter, and biologist. In the Netherlands, he was mainly known as a poet, but he considered himself primarily as a scientist. In 1964, he received the P. C. Hooft prize for his oeuvre.
The official transfer of the art work is Wednesday night during a special evening dedicated to Vroman. During the meeting in The Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch is the re-edition of the book Leo Vroman tekenaar presented and going to the theater-show The Bird in my Chest in premiere: a ‘poetic journey’ by Vromans life, love and work, by Mirjam van Hengel and Frans van Deursen.
