For travelers flying to the U.S., a powdered substances — such as make-up, protein shake mix, spices, baby powder — you will need to be packed in packages of less than 12 ounces (350 mL), or about the size of a soda can. Larger amounts should be packed in checked luggage. Powders in the hand baggage are also subject to a secondary search by the TSA. Powdered baby food, medications, and cremated human remains are exempt.
