Texas authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide that left a couple and their 5-year-old daughter to death, police said on Friday.
Officers from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an apartment in the vicinity of the Spring, after the family had warned the police that they wanted to perform a welfare check.
“We were told that the family had been trying to get in contact with them since earlier in the week didn’t work out,” Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, said at a news conference. “This time, they were in the area and decided to come to the actual site. And she went to the police office for help, because at the time there was no answer, she looked at the cars, and the individuals involved.”

Gonzalez said that when she was a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old wife and their 5-year-old child died in the apartment. Their identity has not been released to the public. A weapon was recovered at the scene, but authorities had no further details.
Members of the family “must have been traumatized by what has occurred,” the sheriff said, calling it a “total surprise.”
“There weren’t any obvious problems that they knew about, or a sort of cries out for help, or something like that. They just came out, and she would like it,” he said.

Gonzalez said that the situation did not seem to be a “consequence of domestic violence.” “This is the most horrifying scenes, if there is a child involved,” he said. “Can We just not in the mood.”
