The Swiss-French aid worker kidnapped in Mali
A French-Swiss aid worker is Saturday, kidnapped in the Malian Gao. That confirmed a spokesperson of the ministry of Security.
It is not clear who is responsible for the kidnapping and what the motives are. Mali is this year plagued by attacks from resurgent islamic groups such as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). Especially in the north of Mali, where the city of Gao is located.
A local radio station in Gao reported that it is going to be an employee of Aide Gao, a small non-profit that malnourished children helps. The woman is taken away by a group of men in a jeep.
The government of Mali signed last year, a peace declaration by religious armed groups but islamic militants loyal to both al-Qaeda as Islamic State (IS) fought by. They are being held responsible for many attacks on western targets in recent months.
