Watain, a Swedish metal band, has announced that temporarily parted ways with its guitarist after a photo circulated online in which the musician making the Nazi salute.
The band’s frontman, Erik Danielsson, said Set Teitan “aside for a period of time,” by the outrage of the photo, NME reported. Teitan joined Watain in 2007.

Danielsson claimed Teitan the gesture in the photo “was done for the joke.”

“That is as much as we have to say about it, but to put an end to this tedious and time-consuming nonsense, the guitarist in question has decided to step aside for a period of time to avoid further useless discussions on the subject,” Danielsson told MetalSucks, a website that reports on metal bands.
Danielsson said the band “spitting on the ill will to ignorance’, which claimed that the guitarist had “a political agenda.”
He ended with the statement: “Finally, we would like to send a sincere f – off to all who insist on feeding the mindless moral witch-hunt hysteria that is now festering at the global heavy metal culture. Hail Satan!”

Brooklyn Vegan, a music blog, based in New York, reported Teitan turned out to gesture the Nazi salute during a concert in Stockholm a few months ago.
The band commented on the video says: “As everyone should know, Watain band members have no ties with the Nazi ideology, nor public, nor private.”
