The State Department says embassies to “ramp-up” visa screening

The State Department has ordered to drag the American embassies and consulates around the world, to the criteria for the “population” need additional examination before receiving a Visa for travel to the United States, according to a recently released diplomatic cable.

The message instructed US to check, contributions to overseas social media accounts, from visa applicants who are suspected of terrorist gang, or that they are in the Islamic state group-controlled areas.

The guide was sent to help in a March 17 cable to all U.S. diplomatic missions, to satisfy the American officials from President Donald Trump, the ” memorandum for an improved security check of the visa applicant. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the cable. The State Department would not developed a comment on the tell, the work was met to meet Trump’s memorandum and “visitor-screening and verification of procedures to identify effectively, the individuals can pose a threat to the United States.”

The cable, which was first reported by Reuters, is not defined, “population.” But quick criticism from rights groups and others moved, have accused Trump of the discrimination towards Muslims by his now-suspended ban on travelers from six predominantly Muslim countries.

The cable called for consular chiefs at each post immediately convened to develop work groups “to identify a list of criteria sets of post-applicant population guarantee increased control” and “experimental determination of individual applicants is determined within the population, which in the course of the consular visa interview.” Even if the applicant qualifies for a visa, those identified that would require the criteria for additional control and possible rejection.

Amnesty International, on Thursday, the leadership called for, to publish for the Department.

“These measures license for discrimination based on national origin and religion could offer,” the human rights group, said in a letter to Secretary of state, Rex Tillerson. “You could be a pretext for blocking of the individual to their non-violent beliefs and expression. Social media checked, as well as the requirements for social media passwords at the US borders, have significant implications for privacy and freedom of expression.”

The manual says to refer to contributions, all visa applicants who “may have ties to ISIS or other terrorist organizations or has ever been in an ISIS-controlled area,” to Prevent fraud in the obligatory social media check. The results of this review will be flagged and registered in the applicant’s file.

In addition, the cable of the consular says to take into account officials, if an Iraqi applicant “was always present in an area of the time it is controlled by ISIS.” If the applicant was, this must be marked for additional review.
