CHICAGO – Chicago police say shootings a man was dead and another 18 people injured during the last weekend, not all happen in March for Our Lives protest against gun violence.
Police spokeswoman Jessica Rocco said the reported shooting took place in the city between last Friday and Sunday.
Different online sites falsely claimed in headlines that the shooting happened during the Saturday protests, which were held in the whole country.
In the one death, the 23-year-old La’Dell Barnett was found with a gunshot wound to his head in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood.
The previous weekend, seven people were killed and 13 wounded in Chicago shootings.
Rocco says Chicago had seen 106 homicides this year through Sunday, compared to 128 murders for the same period in 2017.
