The police in Phoenix to confront armed robbery suspects in the house

PHOENIX – Phoenix police said they have arrested for an armed robbery suspect who surrendered, but still can be in a house that caught fire after officers, who had surrounded were repeatedly shot at.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said no drivers were injured after the police tracked the suspects to a store Sunday to the house. The men refused to come, and the conflict lasted for hours.

They said guns were repeatedly fired from the house. The authorities responded with tear gas. A suspect finally surrendered. The house then caught on fire. Because of the danger, the police handled the fire hoses to spray the house down, but they could not go inside.

“The scene is still very active,” Fortune said early Monday. “The house is still smoldering, there is still a danger to the officers.”
