The police of Chicago, to formally receive the instructions and to work in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security; Matt Finn reports.
The Chicago Police department has advised officers not to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security, in particular in situations where there is a question of immigration arrests, according to an internal department memo obtained by Fox News.
In place of the help of the DHS, upon request, officers are instructed to wait for their supervisor to arrive, the memo said. As soon as the counselor is, “if it’s a request for help with an immigration arrest or detention, CPD staff are to leave the scene as directed by the CPD supervisor,” according to the memo.
CPD confirmed that the memo came from a single superior to it, but would not say when the directive came from the mayor. The mayor’s office did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News.

The Chicago police sources told Fox News that the officers have assisted federal agents with the new policy in place, the CPD and DHS officers in potentially dangerous situations.

“You see what happens, if that happens, a DHS agent has been injured as a result of a lack of a response by the CPD. Sick of what’s going on here,” a ranking of CPD source told Fox News.
“You won’t find a single police officer who would refuse to help another agency,” a law enforcement source told Fox News.
For years, Chicago has become a sanctuary city under the former Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, the current Mayor, Lori Lightfoot. However, this new guideline will go a step further, by order, in writing, to the city, and the police were not provided with immediate assistance (DHS).

Police sources also told Fox News, in some scenarios, BASIS as possible, in order to apply for the CPD, protection, resources, or to assist in the major for the time being.
At an immigration rally last week, Lightfoot said, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has de-legitimized itself as the “political arm” of the Trumpet of the campaign.
“We will never give in to the racist, xenophobic rhetoric of the ICE cream,” Lightfoot said. “We’re going to continue to be a prohibition on the ICE, you have access to any of the CPD database. We will not allow that to be a CPD officer to be working with anything related to the ICE immigration raids.”
Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano said that the city of Chicago is to be found within the constitution rights that are not provided with immediate assistance (DHS).
“The Supreme court has ruled that a state or local government is free to refrain from engaging in the enforcement of federal law,” Napolitano wrote.

Police sources also told Fox News the new policy of “de-legitimizes” the police force of Chicago, because it sends the message that public officials do not respond, or the pursuit of suspects and accused persons in some immigration contexts.
