STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The police are investigating the damage to an image of the Pennsylvania State University mascot.
The authorities were called to the university around 4 a.m. Sunday to reports of damage to the Nittany Lion Shrine. Police say an ear on the right side of the statue was broken down and in the vicinity.
University police are working to determine whether or not the damage intentionally or by accident. They have not said if the damage is connected at the weekend, State Patty’s Day celebration, an unofficial campus holiday that has led to a number of alcohol-related arrests and hospital visits in the past.
