The perfect new year party according to… Laurence Bemelmans (As Cooked by Ginger)

On her blog As Cooked by Ginger cook Laurence Bemelmans delicious pure food at each other. Usually light, but not as a tastier end result. A few months ago she was still ‘Best overall foodblog 2017’, today she presents you her ideal christmas. One for you to feast on!

What do you find important in a new year party?

I feel it is very important that the atmosphere is. The best part of the festival is the friendly atmosphere and having fun while you enjoy good food. Nothing as amusing as memories of the past retrieval while you you turkey enjoy.

What should really not be missing on the table?

Croquettes! Something I usually do not often eat, but without tots is the table not complete. Fortunately my brother every year on the task of solving them yourself. They are so much better when they are homemade.

Also a half lobster as an appetizer for us, meanwhile, has become tradition. The mom cooks them in a great tasty broth and we eat them with homemade cocktail sauce and bread. A classic, but oh so delicious!

What do you want this year, certainly not to see at parties?

People who are on diets and their line started. The last thing you will see while eating a nice feestmenu need to be busy, your line. Just enjoy all the goodies and after your own style of food, record. You can your grandma do not expect that they courgettenoedels or mashed sweet potato is going to cook. I eat light and healthy, but during the festivities am I not back for an excellent meal. Let it come!

Delivers meals to organize you stress? (And what do you do to counter?)

As I well prepared am, gives me not too much stress. All depends also on how critical my audience is. For the one dinner I have a bit more nerves than for the other. The main antistressmiddel is a good preparation and opt for dishes that easily can be made in advance.

Also, choose for fun in place of a tip top presentation. You do the cooking, finally, for your family and friends! Are you really the greatest stresskip ever? Make dishes you already have and you know that you can make.

You have a fixed feesttraditie?

Since I with my husband together, ben, it is the tradition that we in the afternoon at the in-laws visit and evening with my family. And yes, that means two full christmas menu’s on one day. That is a character show! How I do it every year ready to play? Everything in moderation eating and no second serving, even if it is really very nice.
