The parties are approaching rapidly, so it is time to bring this series to a close. That does Jozefien Ryckx of Goestjes in style with her menu right in the middle between nice and refined!
What do you find important in a new year party?
Together with the family eating delicious food in a cosy atmosphere. For me, Christmas really is a familiegebeuren. We are united us around the table for fun, often lively conversation, accompanied by delicious homemade food. We always try as much as possible everyone together. Also the cooking is usually done jointly. Usually my mom, sister and I all of the morning together in the kitchen to get started. That is always a pleasant bunch!
What should really not be missing on the table?
Cute decorations and candles. I love there rather of to be completely wild to go, and my table down to the last detail to decorating. There are always a lot of candles to adjust – ideal for a cosy atmosphere. But I also use lots of flowers and greenery to my table to dress.
In addition, a good glass of wine for all that tasty anyway also a must. This year we serve a few of the wines that we did last year on our honeymoon in South Africa bought.
What do you want this year, certainly not to see at parties?
Ice cream cake. Sorry, just not a fan of. Give me just cakes or other festive small dessert, preferably with fruit.
Delivers meals to organize you stress? (And what do you do to counter?)
Yes! Every time we receive guests, I still suffer somewhat from the ” hostess neurosis.’ I always want that everything is perfect. The food; but also the decoration, and clothing – and our home, there must also be at its best look. Sometimes it can be so very broke, just because I raise the bar for myself very high place.
I try this to work by a good preparation, recipes to choose where I practiced’m and just what to let loose. There are a few bites still not quite ready? However, that is not a bad thing. Since we have an open kitchen, I find it fun that the guests just to our island come aperitifs while I am in my pots stir. And yes, sometimes hurling it to be some dirty pots and pans around, but I try me then just. No one is perfect!
You have a fixed feesttraditie?
A real feast always hear oysters. That opening is a task which, each year, to the men. Most of all I eat oysters pure, with just a pinch of black pepper and a few drops of lemon juice. Classic but oh-sooo-good! Of course with a glass of champagne!
