The Orlando International Airport incident: the Police talking to armed man in parking garage

The authorities have responded late Tuesday to a report of an armed man in one of the parking garages at Orlando International Airport.

Police officers are to communicate with the man at a car rental location within Level 1, Airside A, according to FOX 35 Orlando.

The police told the tv station the man has not harmed anyone or himself, but now the officials are trying to get him to relinquish the weapon.

The airport tweeted that the area was beautiful and there was minimal impact to operations. The passengers are not allowed in the garage area.

A spokesman for the Orlando Police department told FOX 35 that the defendant is not in custody, as had been reported by other news organizations.

Orlando Police said the impact on business operations within the airport are minimal; however, the traffic on the street with the ground at the airport is back up significantly.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are advising commuters to expect delays and remain in their vehicles.

Earlier this year, authorities of an Alaska man killed five people in a baggage claim area at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
