Samsung Electronics donated the limited edition phones for the athletes and the officials of the International Olympic Committee, so that they can document at any time and share their memories with the world. The olympics organiser is in limbo, or handing the device to the North Koreans and Iranians would be violating global sanctions.
SEOUL, South Korea – North Korean athletes have reportedly refused to free Samsung phones distributed to athletes at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
Yonhap News agency said Friday, the North Koreans rejected the offer to make use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone during the Games and be back at their departure.
The phones created a dilemma for the Pyeongchang Organizing Committee, which is considering whether to give them to the 22 North Korean athletes violating the United Nations sanctions that ban on trade in luxury goods with North Korea.
