The national Archive shows a selection of travel photographs, top photographers
In the National Archive in The Hague opens Thursday the photo exhibition on the Road With the photographer on a trip. From the largest collection of photographs of the Netherlands is a selection made from 235 original prints from the last 150 years of well-known Dutch photographers such as Cas Oorthuys, Ed van der Elsken, Eddy Posthuma de Boer and foreign photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa.
The photographers take visitors on a journey and show how the world is changing. So photos to see that Herbert G. Ponting made in Antarctica during the expedition of Robert Falcon Scott (1910-1911). Also are images of Willem van de Poll in 1934 of the old Jewish quarter in Warsaw, which was later destroyed by the nazis.
The nestor of the Dutch travel photography, Eddy Posthuma de Boer, is represented with work from Moscow, created in 1960 during the Cold War.
There is also unprecedented work to be seen, as recently surfaced colour slides of Luc Timmers, a pioneer of colour photography. Of photographer Dolf Toussaint is an unknown series of photographs of the changing Shanghai (1992-1993).
