Gavin played ever almost James Bond, and was for a while the American ambassador in Mexico.
John Gavin was born as Juan Vincent Apablasa, the son of a Chilean father and a Mexican mother. Initially, he wanted to military and served hj also in the Korean war. After his military service, he wanted the assistant to a fellow film director, which led him to come across the screen test sent.
Gavin has played more important roles in Imitation of Life, Spartacus (Julius Caesar), Psycho and Thorougly Modern Millie. Still legendarischer is the role that he missed, namely, that of James Bond. In 1970, he would be the secret agent to go and play, but eventually crawled up to Sean Connery, who originally would stop, and yet again in the skin of 007.
After his acting career was Gavin also an ambassador for the United States in Mexico under president Ronald Reagan.
