A man who is told his daughter that they need to lose weight to gain attention from men says he’s now wondering if he’s crossed the line.
In the presence of a loving father and shared his parents ‘ puzzled, in a Reddit post, in which he and his 24-year-old daughter’s struggle with finding a boyfriend.
“My daughter is very overweight (5’3 and around 200 lbs). Later on, we’re always talking about how she wants a boyfriend, she has never had one before,” the father, who is 52 in the book.
One day at the dinner table, “he said, his daughter just went on a long tirade” about her love life-or lack of it.

She said that it was unfair that all of her friends have boyfriends and get attention from the boys,” said he, “where the boys are [expletive] that will never give her the time of day.
“She’s gone on similar rants before, where it works as it is inexplicable as to why they don’t get the same level of attention,” he added.
The decision, in order to give you some fatherly advice, he suggested that in order to shed a couple of pounds can do for his daughter, and a good number of. “I just told her fine and that it would be helpful to try to lose a lot of weight,” he wrote, “that there are, unfortunately, people are often shallow, and that could be something that would help her to get male attention, to be more confident, and generally healthier.”

Unfortunately for him, his family and his opinion on all of them. “She yelled at me about how” all guys are the same, even my [expletive] dad, ” and rushed out of it,” he said.
In spite of his daughter’s reaction, the father insisted that he meant no harm at all.
“I was actually trying to be helpful, and I knew that it would be a pain, but in my mind, my intentions were good,” he wrote. “She doesn’t have any genetic pre-disposition to being overweight (no-one else in the family), she doesn’t have a condition that I am aware of, but they do eat a little bit, and it doesn’t get much exercise,” the author added.
“I’ve been trying to encourage her to come for a run with me, and give her healthy food, but it was never explicitly spoken about her weight before it.”
Some Reddit users have chimed in the father, for it is insensitive and offensive.

“Maybe this is a different time would be appropriate, but the poor girl has obviously been hurt and insecure and lashing out in anger,” one commenter said, “when her FATHER hit her with a” good-to lose weight, and maybe you’ll be able to have a Boyfriend, ” she said, and men are only of value to you, and you will see. A pretty unhealthy mindset to have a FATHER to take his Daughter in marriage.”
Most of the commenterss, however, proved to be one with the father from the concept.
“He is very friendly, especially with a topic such as this. He was her father, and it was a suggestion in the direction of the hair out of his heart,” one person wrote. “Well, from what it sounds like, and part of the reason why guys can’t be her is because of her angry personality.”

Another user wrote: “My father had the same talk with me when I was growing up. I was so hurt by what he was saying at first, but now that I look back on it, he had good intentions, just not the most speedy delivery.”
“He was so nice about it, but I’m glad he said something! I have lost 30+ lbs and fell in love with staying in shape,” the person added. “Every time I start to fall back into old, bad habits of eating and of laziness, and I don’t remember my dad saying,” Maybe you should put down the Mountain Dew and a Snickers.'”
