CHICAGO – a man with a loaded gun, wearing a bulletproof vest and with a bag of SWAT equipment authorities believe was stolen from the police of New York has been arrested in Chicago and is the busiest train station.
Chicago police say the 21-year-old Isaiah Malailua was arrested Friday morning on a Union Station ticket office and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, for wearing a body armor.
Cook County Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke set bail at $100,000 and ordered Malailua, of Redding, California, to stay in the Chicago area.
Lyke says: This is disturbing, to say the least, in the light of what is happening in our country.”
Malailua was arrested after police dogs sniffed for explosive residue in an unattended bag, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The officials materials with NYPD SWAT patches on the inside and a bus ticket for Malailua.
