The Man admits stealing the Super Bowl gas masks, bomb detector

MINNEAPOLIS – A man will serve 20 months in prison for stealing gas masks and a bomb detector of the law-officers during the Super Bowl week in downtown Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says the 46-year-old Emitt Long was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to theft.

According to the complaint, a witness told the police that he saw Long pick up all the items from a parked car Jan. 30, put them in his own car and drive away. Law officers approached and said that the case is in the car recorded radiation and bomb detection equipment to be used for Super Bowl security.

Officers traced Long the car registration and arrested him. He told the police he threw away everything except for two gas masks, because he wanted to smoke marijuana.

All of the missing items were recovered.
