A painting can be found in the kitchen of an elderly woman in France is a work of art from the 13th-century artist from the Renaissance period, and it may not be worth as much as $6.5 million, according to experts in the field.
The document, known as the “Christ Mocked,” a long-lost work by the Italian painter, Cimabue, and it is part of a series of pictures of him, according to the BBC. The woman, who lives in Compiegne, is thought to be the work of art, it was an old religious icon, and was much appreciated by the experts, who said that there was “no difference of opinion as to’ where it came from.

Experts used infra-red light is shown in comparison with the earlier work by Cimabue, which is also known as Cenni di Pepo in order to determine whether they are equal, and in fact, they were there.

The B & b Cimabue’s painting is scheduled to be auctioned off on Oct. 27.
