NEW YORK – The Latest news about the explosion in Manhattan, in an underground passage (all times are local):

Police chief James O’neill says the device that exploded in the subway of New York was a terror-related incident.

A 27-year-old man had a crude pipe bomb strapped to him and it was in a corridor of the Seventh and Eighth Roads in the vicinity of Times Square.

Three people suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was also injured and was taken into custody.

Mayor Bill de Blasio says the device that exploded in the subway of New York was an attempt at a terrorist attack. He says that the happiness of the defendant not achieve his ultimate goal.

Law enforcement officials say that he was inspired by the Islamic State, but apparently had no direct contact with the terror group.

New Jersey Transit buses on the way to the Port Authority Bus Terminal are diverting to other locations after an explosion in New York City.

NJ Transit says buses that carry passengers to Secaucus and Hoboken. From there, they can be the trains, or the PATH in the city.

Trains, PATH, light rail and ferries honor bus tickets to New York.

The explosion happened around 7:30 pm Monday. Details are still in development.

The passengers were evacuated as a precaution from the metro line where the explosion happened near 40th Street and Eighth Avenue.

A person was arrested and has non-life-threatening injuries.

The New York Police Department says it is responding to a report of an explosion near Times Square.

The answer is located in the area of the Port Authority bus terminal.

This led to delays along some of the subway lines which run beneath the bus terminal.

Some of the passengers have been evacuated as a precaution.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
