Journalism faculty at the University of Mississippi to ask a donor to voluntarily remove the name of journalism in the school following a social media post criticized for an “unjustified racial undertone.”

In a statement late Friday, faculty members requested that within three days of Ed Meek request to have his name removed from the School of Journalism and New Media. Faculty members also ask Meek on “part of a conversation about charting a path forward.”

Mak wrote a Facebook message with pictures of two black women in short dresses, which suggests that they illustrate problems with disorder who pose a threat to the economic health of Oxford, where the university is located. Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter condemned the racial undertone of the message as “very offensive.” It has since been removed.
