The Latest: 1 child dead, 1 home from the hospital after attack

BOISE, Idaho – The Latest on a stabbing at a birthday party that left nine people injured in Idaho (all times are local):

The police says a child injured in a stabbing attack at a Boise apartment complex is released from the hospital.

The authorities have not released the names of each of the nine victims, but on Monday said seven of them remain in the hospital, many with serious injuries. A 3-year-old girl has died of her injuries.

Timmy Kinner, 30, has been charged with several crimes, including first-degree murder, aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon after police say he attack on the children and adults in the girl’s birthday party on Saturday evening.

Police say Kinner had been staying as a guest in an apartment in the complex, but was recently asked to leave because of his behavior.

All of the victims in the attack were the members of the refugee families from Iraq, Ethiopia and Syria. The police said that there is no evidence to suggest that the assault was committed as a hate crime.

A man who is accused of stabbing and killing a child and injuring a number of others and adults at a Boise apartment complex says that he wants to represent himself in court.

An Ada County Judge ordered that Timmy Kinner, 30, will be appointed a public defender yet.

Kinner is charged with first-degree murder and various crimes, including injury to a child and aggravated battery in connection with the attack which focused on a 3-year-old girl’s birthday party. He is being held without bond.

The 3-year-old girl died of her injuries.

The organizers of the Idaho a wake in honour of the nine members of refugee families injured in a stabbing at a birthday party are encouraging people to bring white flowers.

The International Rescue Committee says that the flowers symbolize peace, and they will be given to the victims of the attack after the 6 pm vigil.

The stabbing Saturday evening at a Boise apartment complex that injured six children and three adults. It is many in the community reeling and looking for ways to help.

More than 200 people came together at a prayer service on Sunday evening, at the Imam Hussain Islamic Center, and approximately 100 persons that a rally in the vicinity of the attack, to call for the safety for refugees.

Timmy Kinner is charged with the stabbing. The police say that they believe that Kinner may have tried to take revenge for being asked to leave the apartment complex about bad behavior.
