General view of Jerusalem, the Old city is evident in the Western wall.
Israel was able to move at the end of the designation of a future station at the Western wall according to the President of the Trump in honor of his “brave decision”, the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
To expand Israel’s transport Minister Yisrael Katz plans of Jerusalem, soon-to-open high-speed rail on the West wall. The plan includes the construction of two U-Bahn stations and the excavation of the 2-mile-long tunnel under Jerusalem, and under the politically and historically sensitive town.
“The Western wall is the holiest place for the Jewish people, and I decided to call the station, that after a President Trump following his historic and courageous decision, and Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel,” Katz, the Jerusalem Post told on Wednesday.
Ministry of transport spokesman Avner Ovadia said the project is estimated to cost more than $700 million and, if approved, would take four years.
Katz’s office said in a statement that the minister, advanced the plan in a recent meeting with the Israeli state Railways executives, and committees quickly followed in the planning.
Trump’s announcement has the wrath of the Palestinians and the Muslim world. The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution last week, the opposition to the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, with some traditional American allies, voting in favor of the motion.
The Western wall-rail proposal will likely face opposition from the international community, which does not recognize Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem and the old city, captured by Israel in the 1967 Six-day war. The Palestinians seek East Jerusalem and the old city, is the home of Muslim, Christian and Jewish Holy sites, as the capital of a future state.
