The former president of Egypt Hosni Mubarak released
The former president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, was Friday released from the militairziekenhuis in Cairo where he was being held. Mubarak travels to his home in Heliopolis.
The 88-year-old Mubarak was earlier this month by chief justices acquitted of responsibility for the death of dozens of protesters during an uprising in early 2011.
The uprisings in which protesters were killed, put an end to the regime of Mubarak, who in 1981 in Egypt came to power. He was by his military colleagues to set aside.
After his fall was Mubarak accused of corruption and the death of almost 240 demonstrators. In 2012 he received a life sentence for his alleged role in the death of the protesters.
The process had to be after a decision from 2014 be held again and that ended with acquittal.
