The first one-man exhibition televisiefenomeen, Bob Ross, in the arnhem philharmonic museum

The museum is MORE in the province Gelderland Gorssel, when the first museum in the world, an exhibition dedicated to the work of the televisieschilder Bob Ross. The man, who in 1995 died, and it is known around the world for his television show The Joy of Painting.

This brings us to the museum on Tuesday looking at the outside, and on the day Ross, 77 years, would have been. It is the intention of the exhibition, in the fall of 2020, and will be on view.

“Bob Ross is a wonderful phenomenon in the popular culture,” says artistic director, Ype Koopmans states the following. “A disarmed, happy promoter of the schildervreugde who are in a genuine and accessible way, the fear of art making and art-looking to take it.”

A spokesman for the museum says they came up with the idea to make an exhibition of Ross’s work. They contacted Bob Ross Inc., the company he co-founded with his wife, Jane.

The Museum makes a selection out of hundreds of pictures

Ross made it in 1983 until 1994, when his series The Joy of Painting, of which he was in for thirty minutes as a landscape painter.

– There were 381 of the episodes, and so the paintings, which the museum currently has a selection of uses. The exhibition of forty of his works are on display.
